- A compact house in IJuburg in suburb of Amsterdam, Netherlands.
- Brickwork of the corner of the house.

A monolithic sculptural mass is used for decorative purposes: for different sorts of climbing-plants to grow up the facade. This gives an idea for a vertical garden.

Five Points of Architecture

VILLA SAVOYE

Le Corbusier (1887 - 1965) was among the first architects to allow modern art to influence the buildings. This Swiss-French architect, painter, urban planner, furniture designer and also a writer had constructed many buildings through out Europe, India, Russia, North and South America.
The five points of architecture (1920) can be summed up with a villa - Savoye.
The reinforced concrete building (1929) was designed as a weekend country house, which is situated outside the city of Poissy.
Le Corbusier had ideas for this modern building:
1. The pilotis, which are supporting the first floor, elevate the building from the damp earth allowing the garden to flow beneath.
2. A flat roof terrace reclaims the area for domestic purpose, including the garden.
3. The free plan, which was possible due to the load-bearing walls consisting of partitions regarding adjoining levels.
4. Horizontal windows illumination and ventilation.
5. A freeley designed facade consists of a thin skin of walls and windows and has no consentration on the load-bearing properties.
The house was restore after the II World War.
